New documentation source for web developers – W3C launches Web Platform Docs

The leader of World Wide Web standards, W3C (World Wide Web Consortium), announced the launch of a new community-website that claims to become a one of the biggest web documentation sources for web developers and designers – Web Platform Documents.

To achieve their alpha release, W3C, has collaborated with some of the most famous IT titans like : Microsoft, Mozilla, Google, Adobe, Facebook, HP, Nokia, Opera and others.

They will help in supporting it through content, people, funding and other contributions. It has also been announced that anyone can contribute to the content of this community-driven site.

“It’s not us big web giants telling people what to do – it’s everyone’s web platform. Anyone can choose to come on board and contribute to the material.”

Said Opera’s representative on the Web Platform Docs stewards committee, Chris Mills.

Therefore, Platform Docs seems to be “part of a larger effort to work more closely with developers” and breaks through as ‘Wikipedia for web developers’, since anyone can contribute and update the site, but “stewards and W3C are also dedicating staff and money to help keep the site up-to-date”.

Instead of searching multiple sites for web resources, ways that works across browsers within new technologies ,Web Platform Docs intends to save time and resources by consulting a single site for current, cross-browser and cross-device coding.

Also it is designed to cover other major points like :

How to use each feature of the Open Web Platform, with syntax and examples;
The interoperability of various technologies across platforms and devices;
The standardization status of each technology specification;
The stability and implementation status of features.

Considering that main browsers creators are involved, our greatest joy would be when the project will reach it’s official release, to finally see Firefox, IE, and Chrome acting together.

Dreamweaver CS5 FTP Connect for direct file transfer

In development of a website we almost always need to upload our files to the hosting server and we would be happy to accomplish this in a flesh.

Dreamweaver CS5 makes it easy setting up the site and identifying your main web site folder and get it to your web hosting provider but anyways you need to set up a remote server profile in your site settings. If you fail to do so you’ll have broken links and images along with files that don’t show up on your server where you expect them to. To work successfully with Dreamweaver you MUST begin by setting up your site correctly, after that all you need to do is to go to your Files panel (in the Window menu, choose Files if it is not already checked) and click on the Up arrow to PUT files, but let’s go deeper with this trough the next steps.

1.SETTING THE SITE UP

At the bottom, in main menu, go to Site and select New Site.

The new site setup dialog requires just two settings to get started. First, give your site a name (any name will do, it’s just for your reference). Next, click the small folder icon to the right of the Local Site Folder field and select the folder on your hard drive where you will store all of the files and subfolders in your site.

3.SETTING THE FTP REMOTE SERVER

+ Server Name This is a name you give your hosting provider. I recommend calling it something that you’ll remember where it is and what is hosted there. This is especially important if you’re going to set up multiple locations to post your files (like testing servers and version control servers).
+ Connect Using: FTP — you can also use other methods, but this is the most common and easiest. Talk to your hosting provider to find out if they require use of sFTP or another connection method.
+ FTP Address: This is the domain of your hosting provider. It often starts with ftp.. Talk to your hosting provider to find the correct address.
+ Username: The username for your hosting provider.
+ Password: The password for your hosting provider account.
+ Root Directory: This is often left blank, but sometimes you need to put your files in a sub-directory. Talk to your hosting provider if you have questions.
+ Web URL: The URL of your website. This is so that Dreamweaver can help you test pages.

3.THE FTP FILE TRANSFER

Now, you can click on the up arrow again and upload your files to your hosting server. No more FileZilla or other transfer files app needed.

As promised, jQuery Witchcraft is back and ready to spice up the web around.
What should we begin with? Well being this one the first ingredient of our magic potion, let’s start with a clean and nice work, made from scratch by our team, we bring to you – Elastic Fog.

Elastic Fog is a presentation tool or maybe more a portfolio featured-pieces highlighter, wich brings some more dynamics to your show.
All code is jQuery native so you don’t need to upload tones of scripts to get it work. The rest is classic html and css.

Those being said,the code sources are displayed bellow, together with download and live demo link. You olso can select or double click the code or part of code and then copy it to your clipboard.

We are proud to announce you our decision, to continue developing our charming project once started – jQuery witchcraft.

As a summary, jQuery witchcraft, it is (and will be after renewal) a collection of jQuery based products, snippets, animations, AJAX, and many other.

This side of our website it’s dedicated to web developers and designers and will be mainly focused upon UI interfaces.

Because we know what web developing means and we also know the headaches caused when searching for web resources, we will do our best to meet “any web developer” expectations referring to our releases.
